Regional Educational Laboratory - Mid-Atlantic at Rutgers University, Subcontractor/Partner (Delaware and New Jersey)

Rutgers, The State University of NJ, is a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Educational Laboratory (REL - Mid-Atlantic) from March 23, 2006 through March 22, 2011. It will serve REL - Mid-Atlantic in a leadership, policy, research, and outreach capacity in collaboration with other REL - Mid-Atlantic partners to ensure that the REL - Mid-Atlantic meets the deliverables of the contract, on time, with high-quality and a high degree of responsiveness to Washington DC and the Mid-Atlantic States of Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

Rutgers University’s Center for Effective Schools Practices (RU-CESP) will provide leadership, resources, expertise, and management in serving as Task leaders and directing the Regional Education Needs Analysis, Training & TA Response Unit for REL - Mid-Atlantic. In collaboration with the Graduate School of Education(GSE), CESP will serve as study manager for conducting fast response applied research and development projects and will contribute significantly to other projects and products during each of the five years of the contract. Each year, Rutgers will lead or co-lead at least two major regional-based studies and serve as a resource center as needed to Mid-Atlantic constituents. In addition, rigorous and relevant research will be established through a separate set of studies to fit "effective dissemination strategies" into place. Priorities for these studies include improving academic achievement of subgroups and increasing student achievement in content areas. Finally, in placing considerable emphasis on linking research to policy and practice, Lab Extension Specialists will be appointed to repackage and disseminate user-friendly information for all stakeholders.
