PA Summit Presentation

The Center for effective school practices was selected to present two sessions at the upcoming Pennsylvania Computer Science for All Summit. The Summit will take place virtually from June 24th through June 30th, when participants will have access to a variety of recorded sessions.

The first session, entitled “Recruiting Diverse Learners to High School Computer Science,” will discuss strategies for recruiting students of all backgrounds to engage with computer science during high school using lessons and examples our NSF-funded research-practitioner partnership. Strategies addressed include targeted communications, outreach efforts to lower school levels, school community engagement, and leveraging teacher-teacher collaborations.

Our second session, “An RPP Case Study: The CS Teaching & Learning Collaboratory,” will present the experiences, successes, and lessons learned from the CS-TLC and explain the impact of the project. The presentation will also include practical tools and methods we have used to engage a diverse community of educators around our shared goal. We will also discuss how similar collaborative structures can be implemented in a wide range of communities surrounding a wide range of topics.

Registration for the 2020 PA CSforAll Summit will open in May, and we encourage the CESP community to attend! More information about the Summit can be found here.
