Self-efficacy is a critical component, reflecting an individual's confidence in using data to accomplish specific tasks. Social norms and perceived barriers further modulate motivation.
Blitz and Yanovitzky argue that team data-use routines emerge from the intersection of these themes, and that effective teams leverage diverse expertise, maintain positive leadership, and prioritize communication and conflict management. They believe the COM model provides a blueprint for organizations seeking to transform their data use practices, highlighting the interconnected nature of individual capabilities, team dynamics, and organizational support.
